Successful women - Stem professionals

Motivational character lecture by the successful women - STEM professional and director of industrial company with the objective of increasing interests of students in the natural sciences in as early as possible age with a tendency to increase the number of pupils enrolling studies and selecting career in the field of STEM.
There is a special emphasis on gender equality and overcoming academic gender stereotypes in order to show the pupils role model - successful woman from the world of science and industry and to break the prejudices among students, especially girls, that if they choose a career in STEM they will be less attractive and feminine. Studies have shown that a key age at which should affect this is a age from 12 to 14 years.
The lecture was held on the International Girls' Day and within the Stem Alliance Professionals Go Back to School campaign in the STEM Discovery Week 2017
Biljana Jovanovic, mechanical engineer and director of Mikrotehnika from Nis, presented herself as a model of successful woman in the STEM field coming from the industry. She has presented to us her interesting way from the selection of engineering studies to a successful business woman and a company director founded in 1995 that deals with services, production and engineering. With an intriguing story, she introduced the students with the challenges and difficulties she faced in her career, problems and prejudices encountered and the way she overcome them and showed them that they should follow their desires and choose the profession they like in accordance with their interests. After the lecture, it is held the discussion and students completed the evaluation questionnaires.
